Portraying Madrid is not a search for its urban identity, but rather a personal experience; a convergence or divergence with this city.
The UCM CONFOCO -VII Annual International Congress of Contemporary Photography. Madrid, City of Images focuses on this plurality of visions and gazes. The aim is to not to seek the city’s monolithic or iconic image and story, which do not seem to exist, but rather to understand the threads that make up its fabric, and its frequently chaotic weave.
Confoco 2021 will be held bi-modally (on-site and remotely). The physical site will be the Faculty of Information Sciences at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the face-to-face sessions will be held in accordance with health measures at the Faculty’s Sala de Conferencias (conference hall). In addition, an online space will be set up for presenters and attendees who are not able to be physically present.

Directorate General of Statistics of the Madrid Region, in collaboration with the Proyecto FICMATUR, has launched a new layer of geographic information in its map viewer Nomecalles (Official List and Street Guide of the Madrid Region). In it, it provides movie and series filming locations gathered by the project’s research team. This service has been available since February 2021, and will be updated periodically.
